Congratulations! You’ve been with Policyfast for 10 years - how has it changed?

Policyfast has grown dramatically over the last 10 years. We started with around 100 insurance brokers and we have now grown this to over 2,500 nationwide, whom we help to write over £35 million worth of business per annum.

Our aim was to offer various niche and mainstream insurance products to our brokers online as a solution to the problem of obtaining competitive multiple quotations in a fast and easy method. I’m delighted to say that over the past decade we’ve comprehensively achieved our aim.

How many are in the Policyfast team now - were you the first employee? Has your role changed much?

I was the first employee of Policyfast and we are now a team of 60. My role started as the Operations Manager and now, 10 years later, I am the Head of Operations. The business has grown as has my knowledge and understanding of our brokers and procedures, and I’ve been challenged at every turn and enjoyed every minute of it.

What do you think has enabled Policyfast to be successful?

Having an excellent team around you that works hard, are focused and know what they are trying to achieve - this way we work together and all pull in the same direction.

As we work in a highly competitive environment, and brokers have a choice of insurance platforms, Policyfast has always had to offer something extra in order to thrive. Our proposition is simple; flexible products from a wide range of insurers, all of which are competitively priced, giving insurance brokers a one-stop-shop. We’re also the underwriting agency of choice for many insurance brokers.

Policyfast is online - do you think that’s been of real appeal to insurance brokers?

I’ve worked for a broker and I know how important it is to obtain a competitive quotation quickly if you’re to secure a sale. Policyfast recognised this from day one and we’ve offered a free online solution for our brokers. We also have highly skilled teams whose expert knowledge means we can assist brokers with placing difficult risks as well as helping them with general insurance queries. So Policyfast offers brokers the best of both worlds: a fast online service and the personal touch when they need it.

What’s the best thing about working at Policyfast?

Working with a company that is forward thinking and has a great team spirit.

What’s the worst thing about working at Policyfast?

The coffee! But we are getting new vending machines, so will be much better soon.

What five words would best describe a typical day at Policyfast?

Exciting. Diverse. Fun. Challenging. Rewarding.

If you could change one thing about Policyfast in the next 10 years what would that be?

Firstly, as I have mentioned, the coffee! But seriously, I would like to think that we will continue to grow with our technological developments. We are already working on many innovative projects that brokers will love as it will make Policyfast even faster and even more competitive. This is definitely an area we would like to pursue further, so watch this space...
